Sydney, Jan 14 (IBNS): Ahead of the crucial Australian Open, Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza and her Swiss doubles partner Martina Hingis continued their dominance on the court as they broke a 22-year-old world record when they claimed their 29th women's doubles match victory in a row on Thursday.

The win also took them to the doubles final of the WTA Sydney International.

Sania and Martina defeated the pair of Romanian Raluca Olaru and Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova 4-6 6-3 10-8.

The Indo-Swiss world number 1 pair showed their skills and talents to clinch the closely-fought encounter.

Puerto Rican Gigi Fernandez and Belarus' Natasha Zvereva had earlier set a record of winning 28 matches in a row in 1994.
