Sania is World No. 1 in Women Doubles Tennis
Charleston, US, Apr 12 (IBNS): Tennis star Sania Mirza on Sunday became the first Indian to become the Women Doubles World No.1.
Sania and her doubles partner Martina Hingis won the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, USA, thus clinching 14 matches in a row. The duo beat Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak in the final clash.
Earlier, Mirza and her doubles partner Martina Hingis survived a tough battle as they defeated Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the final of the Family Circle Cup here.
Mirza and Hingis beat their opponents 6-4, 1-6, 10-7.
"It's never easy to play with the rain delay," Mirza was quoted as saying by the WTA website.
This is the third final the duo will play together.
Both had clinched the Indian Wells and Miami titles together.
