Rohit Sharma wins toss, opts to bat first against Sri Lanka in 1st Test

Mohali: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first after winning the toss against Sri Lanka in the first Test match here on Friday.

The test assumes significance as it is the 100 Test match played by former Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Rohit also commenced his journey as India's Test team captain with this match.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are not present in the squad and  Hanuma Vihari and Shubman Gill are getting an opportunity to show their performance.

Rohit has shown his strong performance in the white-ball cricket against teams like New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka so far.
