Rohit hits 98 as MI post 168 for three in IPL opener

Kolkata, Apr 8 (IBNS): A sizzling unbeaten 98 by Rohit Sharma helped Mumbai Indians post 168 runs for the loss of three wickets in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) here on Wednesday.

Sharma hammered four blistering sixes and 12 boundaries in his entertaining 65-ball 98 runs knock which helped his side post a competitive total on the scorecard.

Along with Corey Anderson (55), the Mumbai skipper joined to add 131 runs in the fourth wicket partnership as  KKR bowlers struggled to break their partnership.

The KKR fielders looked slippery on the field as they missed several chances of breaking the partnership.

Mumbai Indians were initially struggling after losing three wickets of Aaron Finch (5), Aditya Tare (7) and Ambati Rayudu (0), with the scorecard reading 3-37.

Rohit Sharma and Corey Anderson helped in rebuilding the Mumbai innings and thus put up a formidable total after early debacle.

Morne Morkel picked up two wickets for KKR.
