Pune FC's young guns off to Munich

| | May 21, 2014, at 02:53 am
Pune, May 20 (IBNS) Five Pune FC youngsters took their first steps towards an experience of a lifetime setting off to Munich, Germany to represent India at the FC Bayern Youth Cup Under-16 Six-A-Side tournament.

Omkar More, Aniket Jadhav, Manoranjan Singh, Krishanu Santra and Sebastian Thangmuansang, all part of Peninsula Pune FC Academy’s (PPFCA) residential youth setup headed out to Munich – the city of the German champions – late Sunday night from the capital city New Delhi.

This is the second instance of Pune FC players travelling to Munich in three years. The youngsters will follow suit of current Pune FC U19 player Rushabh Dhere and former U15 keeper Rohan Fasge who represented India via Pune FC at the same competition back in 2012.

All players were part of Pune FC’s U16 squad which romped to victory in FC Bayern Youth Cup held in New Delhi earlier in February. During the competition, they were handpicked by the German powerhouse’s scouts to be part of the team representing India in the Global FC Bayern Youth Cup, a grass root developmental programme.

Moreover, with five representations, Pune FC is the most represented club in India’s ten man squad for the competition.
