India's Olympic icon Neeraj Chopra added one more feather to his golden crown by winning the medal at the World Athletics Championships in the men's javelin event in Budapest.

Chopra ensured Indians woke up with a smile on their face as he hit a winning  88.17m mark in the second attempt.

In a battle with arch-rival Pakistan, Chopra defeated his competitor Arshad Nadeem who threw 87.82m in the clash.

He is currently the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship.

Apart from Chopra, India's  Kishore Jena stood fifth while   DP Manu stood sixth in the titular fight.

In his bag, Chopra has Asian Games gold medal, a Commonwealth Games gold, a Diamond League title, an Asian Championships gold and an U-20 world title.

Chopra has now qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics and the entire nation will be eagerly waiting for his medal-winning performance in the event.

Indian PM Narendra Modi wished the Indian athlete and wrote on X: "The talented @Neeraj_chopra1 exemplifies excellence. His dedication, precision and passion make him not just a champion in athletics but a symbol of unparalleled excellence in the entire sports world. Congrats to him for winning the Gold at the World Athletics Championships."
