New Delhi/Dhaka/IBNS: Fans might soon see MS Dhoni getting into the playing field when he might return to the international cricket arena ahead of the IPL 2020, media reports said.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sought permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow seven of its top cricketers to be part of the Asia XI team, which is scheduled to play two T20 Internationals against the Rest of the World, reported India Today.

The matches are scheduled to be played on Mar 18 and 21.

The ICC has accorded international status to the games.

Apart from Dhoni, top Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja might also feature in the squad.

"Yes, Bangladesh is scheduled to host two T20 Internationals between Asia XI and Rest of the World. We are in touch with BCCI and other cricket boards of the Asian region to allow their players to be part of these two games," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told India Today.

Dhoni last played for the Indian team in the semi-final of the World Cup final against New Zealand.

Dhoni, who is considered as one of the top Indian cricketers and skipper to play the game, made himself unavailable for selection for India's tour of West Indies in August as he took a sabbatical to train with the Para Regiment of the Indian Army in Kashmir.

He was not part of the T20 squad which played against Bangladesh in the recently concluded home series.

His name was also not present in the Indian ODI and T20 squads for the series against West Indies.
