Kolkata, Febr 11 (IBNS): The Indian edition of the Audi quattro Cup is set to roll in to the Mecca of Indian golf, Royal Calcutta Golf Club with Audi Kolkata primed to host the second leg of the ninth edition over two days here on Thursday and Friday.

The Audi quattro Cup has clearly emerged as the cream of corporate golf events and this season will see the participation of around 1500 golfers and travel to 10 other cities making it a nation-wide event over a total of 13 legs.

The worldwide tournament series, having marked its silver jubilee year in 2015, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 90000 golfers from 54 countries.

The Indian edition this year will be played on a Team Stableford format where the teams will be drawn randomly. The individual handicaps will be derived by the Single Peoria system and the top team, with the best cumulative score, from each leg will qualify for the India finals later this year. The winning team from the India final will then qualify to participate in the world finals of Audi quattro Cup.

“Audi has been committed to the sport of golf for more than two and a half decades now. The sport, which stands for precision and technique, truly embodies Audi’s philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’. Going into the 9th season in India, we are pleased that the tournament has globally emerged as not just a popular sporting event but also as an ideal opportunity to intensify business relationships and establish new contacts.” said Joe King, Head, Audi India.

Apart from the main prizes, the various skills prizes promise to keep every participant enthused. Audi Kolkata will be represented by two teams at the India finals giving the city golfers a higher percentage of representing the country at the World final.

Top lady professional golfer, Sharmila Nicollet, who is a part of an elite family of Audi owners, will add an extra charm to the prestigious event. Sharmila, who will be displaying her skills and imparting some tips to the participants at some of the legs, is the brand ambassador of the Indian edition of the Audi quattro Cup 2016.

The Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest golf course outside the British Isles, is in readiness to host the mega event. A friendly format, top of the line hospitality, great prizes and some wonderful weather promise to make an incredible concoction which no player can afford to miss.
