Kedar Jadhav's ton seals it for India, completes a whitewash

Posting 273 runs for the loss of five wickets, Indian bowlers bowled out Zimbabwe for 193 runs in 42.2 overs. 

Zimbabwe’s skipper Elton Chigumbura won the toss for the third consecutive time and opted to field yet again. The Indians did not have a bright start as they lost their first wicket for 25 runs. Things were slow for them having managed only 36 in the mandatory powerplay overs.

Ajinkya Rahane (15), Murali Vijay (13), Robin Uthappa (31) and Manoj Tiwary (10) all failed to provide impetus in their innings. It was Kedar Jadhav and debutante Manish Pandey who played crucial roles to post a decent score on the board.

Jadhav, playing his fourth ODI scored his maiden international century as he remained 105 not out while Pandey added a composed 71 runs with his willow.

They posted a 144 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. It was for them that India posted a challenging 276 for the loss of 5 wickets in their 50 overs.

Neville Madziva was the pick of the bowlers as the Zimbabwean picked up 2 wickets for 59 runs in 9 overs.

Hamilton Masakadza was the most economical bowler as he gave away just 35 runs while picking up a wicket in 10 overs. Chamu Chibhabha and Prosper Utseya picked up 1 each.

Chibhabha (82) also top-scored for the hosts. All the Zimbabwean batters got off to a start but failed to make them count. Their innings ended in the 43rd over with a score of 193.

Stuart Binny, who scored 18 off 8 balls, also came in handy with the ball. He picked up 3 wickets for 55 runs and also bowled a maiden. Harbhajan, Mohit Sharma, and Axar Patel all picked up 2 wickets each. Murali Vijay trapped the Zimbabwean skipper leg before to claim his maiden ODI wicket.

Kedar Jadhav took home the man of the match trophy for his outstanding knock while Ambati Rayadu was adjudged the man of the series.

India will next play Zimbabwe in a 2-match T20I.
