Jagmohan Dalmiya's eyes donated to Vanmukta Eye Bank in Kolkata
Kolkata, Set 21 (IBNS): As per the wishes of former ICC president and chief of the BCCI Jagmohan Dalmiya, who died on Sunday evening in a private hospital here, his eyes have been donated to Vanmukta Eye Bank, a part of Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Kolkata.
"It may be recalled that social welfare programmes about ' Eradication of Blindness' which included restoration of eye-sight through cornea grafting and transplantations were initiated by Mr. Dalmiya earlier. The themes were widely known as 'Cricket for Life beyond Death' and 'Chance of Second Innings'," an official statement said.
Dalmiya's end came at around 8-45 pm in the B M Birla Heart Research Centre where he was undergoing treatment since Thursday following his admission after a chest pain.
He was 75.
