It was disappointing in the end not to be on the winning side: Sharma
Perth, Jan 14 (IBNS): Despite hammering a century in the first ODI match against Australia, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma felt disappointed that he could not be a part of the winning side.
“It was a great knock and it is always important to start the series on a positive note,” Rohit told BCCI.TV.
He said: “It was disappointing in the end not to be on the winning side because that is what matters at the end of the day. How many runs you score doesn’t matter if your team doesn’t end up winning. Personally it was important that I could get the team off to a good start and then carry on the momentum from there. That is exactly what I did.”
“We need to see where we went wrong," Sharma said.
Sharma said he feels that Indians should improve their fielding.
"We have to improve our fielding a bit because that is where I thought the Australian batsmen took off from us. Fielding plays a crucial part in any format so it is important that we concentrate harder and see where we can do our best. There are still four games to go and I hope we come back stronger," the cricketer said.
