Adelaide, Feb 15 (IBNS): Starting the World Cup campaign by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 76 runs, Indian skipper MS Dhoni said his team's performance was good in the high-voltage match and he was pleased with the performance of his batsmen.

"It was a very good performance," Dhoni said at the post-match award presentation ceremony.

"I was very happy with our batting. When you are batting first, it is not easy over here. It doesn't come on that nicely. It has a bit of a variable pace initially. Gets comfortable after that. It was important we stayed in the middle," he said.

The big partnership between Virat and Shikhar. And then Raina capitalised as well. The break in between was important. the World Cup itself can get you going," Dhoni said.

Riding on a big knock of Virat Kohli, India beat arch rivals Pakistan by 76 runs to register a spectacular win in their World Cup encounter at Adelaide.

With their batsmen surrendering one after another, Pakistan were far away from the 301 run target India set for them riding on a scintillating century of Virat Kohli (107). Pakistan were all out for 224 runs in 47 overs.
