IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad thrash Rajasthan Royals to set up final date with Kolkata Knight Riders

Chennai/IBNS: Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled their way into the IPL 2024 final, outclassing Rajasthan Royals in a low-scoring thriller here on Friday.

Defending a modest 175, SRH's bowlers spun a web around RR, who fell 36 runs short, setting up a grand finale clash with Kolkata Knight Riders.

SRH's innings wobbled early, losing quick wickets, including Abhishek Sharma’s blitz of 12 off 5.

However, Heinrich Klaasen’s fiery 50 off 34 balls, laced with 4 massive sixes, and Rahul Tripathi’s rapid 37 off 15 balls steadied the ship. Despite Trent Boult and Avesh Khan snaring 3 wickets each, SRH managed to post a competitive total.

The chase was a rocky road for RR. Yashasvi Jaiswal's explosive 42 off 21 gave hope, but SRH’s Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) turned the screws tight, dismantling RR's middle order. Dhruv Jurel’s lone battle, scoring an unbeaten 56 off 35, was in vain as the rest of the lineup crumbled.

Key moments included SRH’s early wickets and Shahbaz Ahmed’s game-changing spell. Despite Jurel’s heroics, RR couldn’t muster the partnerships needed, and SRH’s bowlers shone, securing a spot in the final showdown.

As SRH gear up to face KKR, the Royals will reflect on a season that promised much but ultimately fell short. The stage is set for a pulsating final, with SRH looking to cap off their bowling brilliance with the ultimate prize.
