Indian women shuttlers win bronze in Uber Cup championship
Kunshan/New Delhi, May 20 (IBNS) Indian women settled for bronze after losing to China in the semifinals on Friday in the Uber Cup badminton championship being played at Kunshan in China, according to media reports.
Thirteen times champion China won 3-0 in the best of five matches and will meet the winner of the other semi-final -- being played between Korea and Japan -- in the finals.
China proved too strong for the Indian shuttlers, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu lost their singles matches while Jwala Gutta and Sikki Reddy lost in the doubles.
This is the second bronze win for Indian women. They had won the first bronze when the previous championship was played in New Delhi in 2014.
