Indian women concede seven against Myanmar

Mandalay, Mar 15 (IBNS): The Indian Women’s Senior National Team went down 0-7 to Myanmar in the Women’s Olympic Qualifiers Round 1 at the Mandalar Thiri Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Indian eves started the match on an attacking note and Kamala Devi came close to opening the scoring for India in the 4th minute but her swirling effort was acrobatically saved by Myanmar’s Mya Phu Ngon.

The Indian Women tried to pile up the pressure but Myanmar opened their goal scoring tally in the 8th minute, as Khin Moe Wai headed home her opportunity.

The Indian Women gathered themselves and mounted a penetrating attack which, if not for the heroics of Phu Ngon, would be a certain goal.

Myanmar doubled their lead in the 15th minute when Khin Marlar Tun scored. Thereafter, Naw Phaw scored in the 21st and Yee Yee Oo scored in the 28th minute as the half time score-line read 4-0.

Desperate the Indian Women went all out but they were unable to make any prowess.  Myanmar made in 5-0 in the 61st minute.

In the 70th minute of the match, Dangmei Grace controlled the ball with utmost acumen and released a venomous shot, which flew whiskers wide of the post.

Yee Yee Yoo scored for Myanmar in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute, a well placed ball by Bembem found Sasmita Malik free on the fringes. Sasmita, effortlessly turned her marker and displaced a powerful shot, which was saved by Ngon.

Myanmar scored through W.T Tun in the dying minutes of the match as the final scoreline remained 7-0.

The Indian Women had gone into the Tour after a four-week long Preparatory Camp under Head Coach Sajid Dar at the Shiv Nadar University in Dadri.
