India defeat West Indies by 318 runs to take 1-0 lead

North Sound, Aug 26 (IBNS): India dominated the first Test and defeated West Indies by 318 runs to take 1-0 lead in the series here on Sunday.

After declaring the innings at 343 for the loss of seven wickets, taking a lead of 418 runs.

West Indies were bowled out for 100 runs.

Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah damaged the West Indies innings completely by taking five wickets by giving away just seven runs. Ishant Sharma picked up three.

West Indies batsmen failed completely to deliver infront of the spirited bowling performance by Indians.

Only Roston Chase (12), Kemar Roach (38) and Miguel Cummins (19) remained the only batsmen for India to reach the double-digit mark.

India had scored 297 all out in the first innings before bowling out the opponents for 222 runs.

Taking an advantageous lead of 77 runs,  Kohli (51), Ajinkya Rahane (102) and Hanuma Vihari (92)  led India to take a 418 runs lead in the second innings.

The second Test will be played in Jamaica from Friday.
