Adelaide: Skipper Tim Paine played a captain's knock of unbeaten 73 runs as he helped Australia reduce the gap before a dominant Indian bowling side that bowled out Australia for 191 runs.

Australia trail India's first innings score of 244 runs by 53 runs.

Tim Paine (73*) remained a shining spot in the lineup as he smashed 10 boundaries in his knock which helped Australia reach closer to 200-run mark in the first Pink Test played between the two squads.

Apart from Paine, Marnus Labuschagne added 47 runs with his willow.

Other than these two men, the Australia batting lineup struggled in front of the spirited bowling performance by Indians.

Spinner R Ashwin shined for India as he picked up four wickets.

Bumrah pickedup two while Umesh Yadav scalped three wickets for the visitors.
