Dubai/UNI: India defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the U-19 Asia Cup final to claim the title for a record eighth time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium here on Friday.

India chased down the revised target of 104 in 21.3 overs, thanks to Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 67-ball 56 and Shaik Rasheed's 49-ball 31.

Raghuvanshi and Rasheed stitched a 99-run partnership after India lost opener Harnoor Singh cheaply for five.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 106 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets, after the rain interrupted the game and the play was reduced to 38 overs according to Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS).

None of the Sri Lankan batsmen managed to stick to the crease for long, as Indian bowlers went all guns blazing and sent half of the Lankan side back to pavilion on the score of 47.

Yasiru Rodrigo was the highest scorer of the match with 19 not out. Besides, Sadisha Rajapaksa (14), Raveen De Silva (15) and Matheesha Pathirana were others who managed to touch the double figure for Sri Lanka.

India's Vicky Ostwal scalped 3 wickets and Kaushal Tambe bagged two wickets.

Raj Bawa and Ravi Kumar and Rajvardhan Hangargekar got one wicket each.
