India 103/2 at lunch on day 1 of second Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal slams fifty

Visakhapatnam/IBNS: Riding on young Yashasvi Jaiswal's unbeaten half-century, India recorded a successful opening session of the second Test in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

India stopped at 103/2 when the players went for lunch.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, India's openers- Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma- chose to go steady against the English bowlers in the first session.

While Jaiswal hit some visually impressive shots on the off-side, Rohit fell to Shoaib Bashir while batting at 14 off 41 balls with no boundary added against his name.

Shubman Gill, whose off-form has drawn criticisms, was dismissed after a quick 34 off 46 balls.

Along with Jaiswal (51 not out off 92 balls), Shreyas Iyer was holding the fort batting at 4 off 7 balls when the players went back for lunch.

England are leading the five-match Test series 1-0.
