Ind-NZ: Kiwis bowl out India for 318, post 71 for loss of 1 at lunch

Kanpur, Sept 23 (IBNS): Recovering from a slump in the first day of the inaugural Test against New Zealand, the last pair of Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav added 41 runs to take India's score past the 300-run mark here on Friday, day two of the match.

India were eventually bowled out for 318 runs, having started at their overnight score of 291 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

At lunch, the visitors have put up 71 runs for the loss of a wicket.

Martin Guptill (21) was the lone casualty as he was struck in front of his wicket by a Umesh Yadav delivery.

Since then, the pair of Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson (21) and Tom Latham (25) have looked reliable at the crease.

They have swept the occasionally and have played with soft hands, negating a chance for the host team to cash on.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli, introduced spin as early as the third over.

Though the pitch looks conducive to turners, the Indian spinners are yet to taste success.
