'Give less extras or play under new captain': MS Dhoni's warning to CSK after LSG match

Chennai/IBNS: Despite pulling off a victory by 12 runs in a high-scoring match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not happy with his bowlers who conceded too many easy runs to the opponent through extras.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Dhoni warned his team that he would step down as captain if the yellow brigade bowlers don't rectify their mistakes.

Dhoni said, "One more thing is they'll have to bowl maybe no no-balls and less wides because we are bowling too many extra deliveries or they'll have to be ready to play under a new captain at some point of time."

"It will be my second warning and I'll be off," the skipper added.

CSK on Monday conceded 18 extra runs including 13 wides and three no-balls to LSG.

Surviving the initial scare from LSG's batting display in the powerplay overs, CSK pulled off the win picking wickets at regular intervals and muting the run flow.

Batting first, CSK riding on Ruturaj Gaikwad's 57 and Devon Conway's 47 scored 217 losing seven wickets in 20 overs.

LSG ended up scoring 205/7 in 20 overs falling short of the CSK total by two big hits.
