Kolkata/IBNS: Most of the noted teams including favourite Dhampur Sugar Mills and title holders Formidables, both from Delhi, along with Rana, India Chain, Bangur Cement, Shree Cement, Pradeep and Arun Jain entered the pre-quarter finals of the team event finishing at first to eighth position respectively after the conclusion of eight-round Swiss league on the second day of the 7th All India Shree Cement Bridge Championship at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata on Friday.

In the last sixteen stage which is being played on knock-out basis league topper Dhampur is taking on RISK, Rana is facing United Bengal while  champions Formidables are meeting Hugli and Indian Chain is being challenged by West Calcutta.

In the other four pre-quarter finals Bangur Cement, Shree Cement, Pradeep and team Arun Jain are playing against Mind Crusader, DRSM, Setu and TVS Mobility respectively.

Seasoned campaigners like team Hemant Jalan, Trambak Rubber, RISK and team Monica Jajoo failed to live up to the expectation and could not qualify for the knock-out stage this time.

Earlier true to the expectation Dhampur Sugar Mills, which was leading the field at the end of the 5th round, finished at the top with 127.61 Victory points (VPs) when the eight-round Swiss league completed this forenoon.

At the end of the  second session of three-session pre-quarter finals, all the top eight teams in the last sixteen stages are leading against their respective opponents.
