Seville/IBNS: Cristiano Ronaldo's journey in Euro Cup 2020 ended with disappointment as his Portugal crashed out of the tournament on Sunday, losing out to Belgium by one goal.

Portugal, the defending champions, lost to Belgium 1-0, missing out the opportunity to reach the quarterfinals.

A stunning goal by Thorgan Hazard three minutes to halftime helped Belgium to secure a berth in the next stage as Portugal struggled to erase the lead till the end minute of the match.

In the first match on Sunday, Czech Republic stunned Netherlands by pulling off a spectacular victory 2-0.

After the first half went goalless, Tomas Holes put Czech Republic ahead of Netherlands in the 68th minute while Patrik Schick further improved the team's lead by kicking the ball to the nets in the 80th minute.

Netherlands, who were embarrassed after their player Matthijis de Ligt was sent off for deliberately touching the ball, failed to make a comeback in the match.

In the round of eight, Belgium will take on Italy while Czech Republic is set to lock horns with spirited Demark.
