Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar visits bat maker unit in south Kashmir

The great Sachin Tendulkar, on Saturday visited a bat manufacturing unit in south Kashmir , which is likely to give a major boost to the Industry.

Tendulkar, his wife Anjali and daughter Sara visited a MJSports bat manufacturing unit in Charsoo Awantipora and spent nearly an hour at the unit today.

The visit of Tendular here is going to give a major boost to Kashmir willow bats which are in high demand,” MJ Sports owner Mohammad Shaheen Parrey told UNI .

"The cricket legend had a lot of knowledge about Kashmir cricket bats and had some queries also. He was highly impressed with the quality of our cricket bats," he said.

Tendular stayed for at least an hour at the bat maker unit.

There are over 300 bat manufacturing units in south Kashmir who supply around four million cricket bats within and outside the country.

In the 2022 T20 cricket world cup, the longest six of the tournament was hit by United Arab Emirates (UAE) batter Junaid Sidique using a Kashmir willow bat manufactured by GR8 sports based in Anantnag district.
