Cook nearing to break Sachin Tendulkar's record

London, May 4 (IBNS): Scoring 36 more tuns will help England batsman Alastair Cook reach a personal landmark in his career.

If he can score the needed runs, then the English skipper will become the youngest batsman in the world to reach 10,000 runs mark.

He will beat Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's record who had become the youngest batsman to reach the landmark against Pakistan in 2005 at an age of 31 yrs and 10 months..

If Cook can score the runs against Sri Lanka in the upcoming series then he will be able to reach the milestone five months earlier.

Playing 126 matches, 226 innings in his career so far, Cook has scored 9964 runs in Test cricket.

Sri Lanka named a 17 -member test squad for the forthcoming tour of England.
