After putting two more in the nets, Brazilian footballer Neymar has overtaken legend Pele to become Brazil's all-time men's top scorer.

Neymar helped his national side win the clash against Bolivia in a record-breaking match by 5-1 margin.

Pele had scored 77 goals for Brazil between 1957 and 1971.

With two more goals scored in the match against Bolivia, Neymer, who has made 125 international appearances for the national side, now has 79 goals in his name.

Before the game, both Pele and Neymar were tied at 77.

Congratulating Neymar, a message was written on the official X page of Pele.

"Congratulations, Neymar Jr, for surpassing the King in goals for the Brazilian National Team in official FIFA matches. Surely Pelé is applauding you today!" read the post.

In 2017, Neymar became the world's most expensive footballer when he joined Paris St-Germain from Barcelona for £200m.

He left the side to join Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal this summer.

Pele died from cancer in 2022. He was 82.
