Border asks Australian players to embrace pressure

| | Feb 12, 2015, at 08:58 pm
Melbourne, Feb 12 (IBNS) Former Australian skipper Allan Border has asked players, who will represent his nation int he World Cup, to make the most of the pressure and expectation that comes with hosting the mega cricketing event on home turf.

"Everyone's talking about playing at home – that it's a very difficult situation, the extra pressure and expectation," Border was quoted as saying by    cricket.com.au.

"My advice would be to really go out of your way to embrace the fact you're playing at home in front of your own crowd," he said.

"Because it will help you in tight situations, when the crowd's in your corner it will make a difference," Border said.

"Don't let it worry you – you know that expectation will be there, really embrace the challenge," he said.

Under Border's leadership, Australia had won the World Cup in 1987.

India (2011) nd Sri Lanka (1996) are only the two nations who have won the trophy while hosting the event on their soil.
