BCCI to invite application for Indian men's team head coach, Rahul Dravid can re-apply

BCCI will invite the post of head coach even before the Indian team leaves for the Caribbean and the USA to play in the T20 World Cup.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said Dravid would need to reapply if he wanted to be the coach of the national side once again.

Under Dravid's coaching, the Indian team played in the final of the World Cup in India last year.

Australia defeated India to lift the trophy last year.

"We will call for applications in the next few days," Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, during a media interaction at the BCCI headquarters, was quoted as saying by Espncricinfo.

Shah said: "Rahul Dravid's tenure is coming to an end in June. If he wants to re-apply, he can."

Shah said the new head coach will be offered to take charge till the ODI World Cup in 2027.

"We are looking for a long-term coach for three years," Shah said. "There is no precedent of different coaches for different formats in Indian cricket. Besides, we have a number of all-format players. Ultimately, it will be the Cricket Advisory Committee's (CAC) call. I have to implement what they decide."
