Australian Open: Serena Williams destroys Maria Sharapova to reach semis

Melbourne, Jan 26 (IBNS): American Serena Williams destroyed Russia's Maria Sharapova to cruise to the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Tuesday.

In a high-profile women's singles quarter-finals encounter between the two top players of the game, Serena defeated her opponent 6-4 6-1.

Williams is fighting for her 22nd Grand Slam title.

She will face Agnieszka Radwanska in the semi-finals.

This was the 18th time Williams defeated Maria in a row.

The clash lasted for  an hour and 32 minutes.
