Hangzhou/UNI: Jyothi Surekha Vennam bagged her third gold medal here in the Asian Games 2023 women's individual compound archery here on Saturday.

Ojas Pravin Deotale also won a gold medal in the men's individual compound event.

Abhishek Verma also clinched a silver in men's individual compound, while the 17-year-old Aditi Swami pocketed a bronze medal in women's Individual compound archery event.

The four medals took India’s Asian Games 2023 archery medals tally to nine. Seven of these came in compound archery, including a clean sweep of all the five gold medals on offer in the category.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam beat Chaewon So of the Republic of Korea 149-145 in the women’s individual compound final to bag her third gold at Hangzhou. The 27-year-old was also part of the gold medal-winning Indian women’s and mixed teams earlier this week.

Ojas Pravin Deotale also completed a hat-trick of golds at Hangzhou 2023 after defeating compatriot Abhishek Verma 149-147 in an all-Indian men's compound individual final.

Deotale, the reigning world champion, had partnered Jyothi Surekha Vennam for the compound mixed team gold and was also a part of the men’s team, alongside Abhishek Verma and Prathamesh Jawkar, who claimed gold.

Earlier in the day, Aditi Swami beat Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly 146-140 in the third place playoff match to win the bronze medal in the women's individual compound event.

Earlier this week, Aditi Gopichand Swami had featured in the women’s team gold medal win alongside Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Parneet Kaur.

In the recurve events, the Indian men’s recurve team of Olympian Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Shelke had settled for the silver medal.

The Indian women’s recurve team comprising Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur bagged the bronze on Friday, Olympics.com reported.

No Indian archer made it to the medal rounds of the individual recurve events. The recurve mixed team of Atanu Das-Ankita Bhakat bowed out in quarterfinals.

This was India's best showing in archery at the Asian Games. India had won three medals - one gold, one silver and one bronze - at Incheon 2014.
