Doha: The final match between Argentina and France that will decide the winner of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar commenced on Sunday.

The match is being played in the Lusail Stadium.

The key point of the final is the hope of Argentinian fans that star player Lionel Messi, who is playing his last international game for Argentina, lifts the cup.

Argentina last won the iconic cup in 1986.

France is the current World Cup champion.

Fans are also expecting a tough battle in the final between Messi and French star Mbappe.

Meanwhile, Messi made his 26th World Cup appearance with the game against the current title holder.

He moves up Lothar Matthaus (25).

Mbappe, who got France’s last goal in the title-clinching victory over Croatia in 2018, could become just the fifth player to score in multiple World Cup finals after Vava, Pele, Paul Breitner and Zinedine Zidane, as per FIFA website.
