ARAE-FEARA Regatta: Bengal Rowing Club, Lake Club rowers impress on day for seniors
Kolkata/IBNS: On the day for the seniors, Bengal Rowing Club (BRC) duo Smnath Mukherjee and Sunil Sethia and S M Qamaruddin of Lake Club entered the finals of Double Scull in the 80th ARAE-FEARA Regatta in Kolkata, defeating their rivals from Thailand and Australia respectively.
While Somnath and Sunil defeated PCB Rermsermsuk and RP Pochanasomburana in Double Scull for Men Grand Master category (above 60 years), Qamaruddin beat James Shipton from Australia in single scull for Men Masters division (above 36 years) on the penultimate day of the championship on Rabindra Sarobar lake in Kolkata on Friday.
Lake Club's Shakeel Ahmed and Priya Mukherjee also entered the final of Mixed Double Scull, defeating their rival from Bengal Rowing Club.
In other semi finals for the seniors, Bengal Rowing Club dominated the proceedings reaching finals of at least seven events and were followed by Lake Club who entered the title clash in six disciplines, Calcutta Rowing Club (three events) and Madras Boat Club (two disciplines).
