Amway state athletic championship flags off today

Kolkata, May 28 (IBNS): Amway 65th State Athletic Championship 2015 has kicked off in right spirit today in Kolkata. Amway India, the largest direct selling health and beauty Direct Selling FMCG Company has reinforced its commitment to holistic development in athletics this year and collaborated with the prestigious West Bengal Athletic Association (WBAA) for the third year.

Amway India also announced the annual sponsorship for the state athletic team for the second time for 2015-16. The company also sponsored the West Bengal Athletic team last year as well. The aim is to promote budding talent in the field of athletics in West Bengal and provide a platform to the young athletes from every corner of West Bengal.

At a formal function at Sports Authority Of India complex, Shri Chand Mohammed, MLA & Parliamentary Secretary, Government of West Bengal, Shri Manmeet Singh, Regional Director, SAI and Chandra Chakraborty, Area Manager, West Bengal , Sikkim and Andaman, Amway India flagged off the 4 day long athletic meet amid cheer from the participants.

Speaking on Amway India’s association, Chandra Chakraborty, Area Manager, West Bengal , Sikkim and Andaman, Amway India, said, “We are delighted to renew our association with the West Bengal Athletic Association for the third consecutive year and present the Amway 65th State Athletic Championship. We are also reinforcing our commitment towards holistic development of sports and athletics by renewing the annual sponsorship of the West Bengal Athletic team for the year 2015-2016. We hope these steps will encourage young athletes from West Bengal to excel at the national as well as the international level.”

This year 1100 athletes from 19 districts will participate in Amway State Athletic Meet. The meet will witness star athletes like Sushmita Sinha Roy and Asha Roy. The meet will also arrange for dope test this year as four doctors from NADA will be present for the testing.
