2000 participants run in Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon
Amway has strengthened the partnership with Darjeeling Police to present the second edition of Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon.
The 2nd Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon 2015 was held in collaboration with West Bengal Tourism Department, Bengal Road Race Association and Baghajatin Sports Club, Siliguri on Tuesday to commemorate the 151st Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The objective behind organizing the Amway Darjeeling Police marathon was to spread awareness about health and fitness among people in Darjeeling and North Bengal and to popularize Darjeeling as one of the most beautiful & environment friendly global tourist destinations. The sporting event is also dedicated to establish peace and Harmony between people of Hills and plains.
The second edition of Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon was flagged off at Sukhia Pokhri Govt School Ground at 9 am by Ace Athlete Dr. Kuntal Ray, Dronacharya and Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President, East, Amway India and Akhilesh Chaturvedi, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling and traversed through Darjeeling city touching vantage points like Lapchey Jagat, Puboong Phatak, Ghoom Bhanjan, Ghoom Railway Station, Dali Fatak, Darjeeling Railway Station, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Garden , Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and conclude at the Chowrasta.
Commenting on the association of Amway India with Darjeeling Police Marathon, Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President, Eastern Region, Amway India said, “We are delighted to reiterate our commitment to bring back the Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon in the Queen of Hills in 2015. This marathon bears testimony to our vision of contributing to the community development and partnering in the holistic growth of the country through association with our stakeholders.”
Over 2000 people including athletes and marathon runners from different parts of India participated in the second edition of Amway Darjeeling Police Marathon.
