Taapsee Pannu to star in Mithali Raj's biopic

Mumbai/IBNS: Actress Taapsee Pannu is all set to star in former Indian women's cricket captain Mithali Raj's biopic Shabaash Mithu.

Taapsee will play the character of Mithali who has already retired from the T20 format but continues to play for India in One Day Internationals (ODIs) as a batsman.

The announcement has been made on Tuesday when the former skipper is celebrating her 37th birthday.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "IT'S OFFICIAL... #TaapseePannu to star in the biopic on the life of cricket legend #MithaliRaj... Titled #ShabaashMithu... Directed by Rahul Dholakia [#Raees]... Produced by Viacom18 Studios."

Celebrating Mithali's birthday, Taapsee wrote on Twitter, "Happy Birthday Captain @M_Raj03 On this Birthday, I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with #ShabaashMithu P.S- I’m all prepared to learn THE ‘cover drive’"

The biopic will be directed by Rahul Dholakia.
