Srijit Mukherji brings Sarat Chandra's greatest battle to life; pre-teaser of Pujo 2026 epic out
Kolkata/IBNS: The makers have unveiled the pre-teaser of Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra in a first glimpse of what promises to be one of the most anticipated Bengali films of Pujo 2026.
Bringing together the creative vision of acclaimed filmmaker Srijit Mukherji and the production banner Nandy Movies, the film takes inspiration from one of the most fascinating chapters in Bengali literary history.
At its heart stands the legendary Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay—whose words shook the foundations of colonial authority and whose iconic novel Pather Dabi became a symbol of resistance against the British Empire.
As the centenary of Pather Dabi approaches, Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra revisits the extraordinary conflict between imperial power and the written word, bringing to life the enigmatic revolutionary Sabyasachi Mallick, the man, the myth, the ultimate rebel— one of Bengali literature's most enduring and compelling characters.
Produced by Pradip Kumar Nandy under the banner of Nandy Movies, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Choudhury, Mimi Chakraborty, Divyani Mondal, and Rik Chatterjee.
Adding another significant milestone to the project, Srijit Mukherji makes his debut as a music composer, creating the film's soundtrack and background score, bringing a deeply personal creative touch to this ambitious cinematic venture.
Rich in history, politics, literature, and rebellion, Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra promises to be an immersive big-screen experience that celebrates the enduring legacy of a writer whose ideas could never be silenced.
