‘Seven films, one Thailand’: Thai Film Festival brings cinema, culture and tradition to Kolkata
Kolkata/IBNS: The second edition of the Thai Film Festival was held in Kolkata last week, bringing Thai cinema and culture to local audiences through a three-day programme featuring seven films.
Hosted at Cinepolis, Acropolis Mall, the festival offered free screenings across genres including romance, comedy and drama. The event has also kept free registration open for audiences.

The festival, themed "Siam Symphony: A Cinematic Journey Through Time and Scenery", showcased Thailand's storytelling traditions, landscapes and cultural heritage through cinema.
Royal Thai Consul General Siriporn Tantipanyathep said the festival offers an opportunity for audiences to explore Thailand through its films.

"Sometimes the best way to discover a country is through the stories it tells. It is my great privilege and joy to welcome you to the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026.
"This evening and over the next two days, we are taking you to Thailand, through seven remarkable frames, seven unforgettable journeys, one extraordinary Thailand," she said.
The festival also highlighted Thailand's cultural heritage, including its traditional attire, historic cities and landmarks.

Tantipanyathep said Thai heritage has encouraged a new generation to explore the country's history, traditions and cultural identity.
A traditional Thai dance performance was also held during the opening event, adding a cultural element to the festival.
