West Bengal: Public obstruction at Halisahar Station hits train services

Kolkata, Jan 18 (IBNS) Train services on Sealdah - Ranaghat section got disrupted on Monday morning when a group of people obstructed train movement at Halisahar station on Monday.

Services was hit from 9.05 hrs. to 11.00 hrs.

"The incident occurred when one male person, aged about 35 yrs. was hit by down Gede local   and died near the cabin at Halisahar station. Local public started obstruction at Halisahar station demanding compensation from railways," read a government statement.

Consequently, two pairs of EMU locals had been cancelled, 12 other local trains were delayed and down Bhagirathi Express was detained for more than one hour according to Eastern Railway press release.
