Uttar Pradesh: Six killed in road accident on outskirts of Lucknow

Lucknow/UNI: Six people were killed and over 20 injured when two UP State Roadways Corporation buses collided head-on during an overtaking near Bajnagar village on Lucknow-Hardoi state highway on Wednesday morning.

Police said that both the buses involved in the accident were of UPSRTC and overtaking of a truck by a bus led to the head-on collision. The truck, which was overtaken by the bus going towards Hardoi, also collided with the buses.

Additional Police Commissioner(ACP) S M Kasim said that the deceased was identified as Nitesh Bharati, Lucky Saxena, Rajendra Saxena, Sarvaghar, Hariram and a woman.

In the accident conductors of both, the buses were critically injured along with several other passengers. They were rushed to the Trauma centre in the state capital.

Senior police officials have reached the spot. Due to the accident, the state highway was blocked for a couple of hours.

Meanwhile, UPSRTC Managing Director RajShekhar has ordered a probe into the accident and a three-member committee of officials comprising Sunil Prasad, RN Verma and regional manager Lucknow S Bose would be reaching the spot soon to investigate the accident. They will be submitting the report within 24 hours.
