Ayodhya, Oct 19 (IBNS) : A day after the Uttar Pradesh Government celebrated a grand Diwali in Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday visited the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi site and other temples in the town, declaring that he is "committed towards the development of every place in the state", media reports said.

In what is being perceived by many as an attempt to put the controversial Ram temple issue on the front burner,  the chief minister, accompanied by Governor Ram Naik and his senior ministers, presided over a grand spectacle ahead of Diwali and spoke  on his Government’s plans to develop the temple town.

"Devotees visit Shri Ram Janmabhoomi from all over the country and the world, I was there to check the preparations in terms of their security, convenience, and cleanliness as well,” Adityanath was quoted as saying in media reports.

"It’s about my personal faith as well. How can the opposition interfere in that?” he added.

Adityanath, who had arrived here on Wednesday, said that no politics should be seen behind his Government’s efforts to develop Ayodhya which gave the idea of Ram Rajya — where there is no poverty or discrimination.

“If every citizen has a roof over his head, power supply, basic amenities, education, and adequate opportunities that transcend caste, creed and religion, the dream of Ram Rajya will come true,” he said, addressing people at Ram Katha Park.“We are working to accomplish this.”

Chants of "Jai Shri Ram" rent the air onn the banks of the Saryu river during a grand 'Deepotsav' celebration while mythical tales of Ram and Laxman were brought to live through a laser show..

“I am not here to divert attention from real issues as they claim. I have come here with `135 crore development projects for all in the temple town so that everyone can prosper equally and Ayodhya can be put on the tourist map of the country,” Adityanath said while announcing a slew of development projects for Ayodhya.
