Saurav is the right man to lead CAB after Dalmiya's death: Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, Sept 24 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said ex-Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly has the ability to succeed late Jagmohan Dalmiya as the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Banerjee said the name has been suggested by her in consultation with other administrators of CAB.
"After the demise of Jagmohan Dalimya, there has been a crisis. I feel Saurav, who was an able captain of the Indian team, is the right man to take the post of CAB president," she said.
Ganguly is currently the joint-secretary of CAB and has served in this role for 14 months.
"Ganguly will decide the association’s line-up now," said Banerjee, who added that Dalmiya’s son Abhishek will also be part of the plans.
To avoid any controversies, Banerjee said, "Sourav has been an Indian cricket team captain, now let him lead Bengal cricket. But I am not making a decision for CAB, it is my way of supporting cricket, which is not my cup of tea."
