New Delhi, Mar 7 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the attack on  Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty  in his Bengaluru office.

" Spoke to Karnataka CM Shri Siddaramaiah and expressed my concern over the attack on State Lokayukta, Justice Vishwanath Shetty. CM has apprised me of the incident and also informed about the Lokayaukta’s condition in the hospital. I wish for Justice Shetty’s speedy recovery," Singh tweeted.

Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed at least three times in his Bengaluru office on Wednesday, according to media reports.

Justice Shetty was rushed to the Mallya Hospital, local reports said.

Karnataka home minister Ramalinga Reddy told reporters that Shetty is out of danger, reported The Times of India.

He was hearing a case when the attack took place, reports said.

The media quoted the police as saying that the accused has been arrested and taken into police custody,

The assailant has been identified as Tejas Sharma, said to be an advocate, based on his entry in the register at the Lokayukta’s office, reported The Hindu.

Meanwhile, the BJP Karnataka posted on its official Twitter handle, "Attack on Lokayukta is highly condemnable. This proves that there is no fear of law for miscreants in @siddaramaiah's Karnataka. It won't be surprising if HM Ramalinga Reddy comes out and says accused did not intend to kill Lokayukta but 'just' pierce him. #LawlessKarnataka".
