President of India to host a lunch for 100 women achievers on Jan 22

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee will host a lunch for 100 women achievers on Jan 22 at Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the first anniversary of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme.

These 100 women achievers were selected by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with Facebook through a nationwide contest and public nominations.

The contest was announced on the Facebook Page of the Ministry of Women and Child Development in July, 2015.

Nominations were invited in 20 categories: Access to justice protecting women & their rights; Agriculture and Animal Husbandry; Animal Welfare; Arts and Culture; Commerce Industry and Entrepreneurship; Community Mobilization; Disability and Disadvantage; Education; Environment, forests and wildlife; Globalizing India; Healthcare and Wellness; Hygiene and Sanitation; Improving the Child Sex Ratio; Innovation Science and Technology; Literature; Media; Nutrition; Sports; Women in Public Life and Women’s Empowerment.

The jury short-listed 200 women nominees from 474 nominations. Public voting in Dec 2015 decided the final 100 winners.
