New Delhi/IBNS : Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated United States President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris on winning the US elections and hoped the Indo-US ties will attain new heights with their cooperation.

Joe Biden has been declared 46th President of the United States on Saturday, defeating Donald Trump, US media said. With Pennsylvania in his kitty, Biden has now got 273 out of 538 Electoral College votes, crossing the 270-limit, dashing all hopes of Donald Trump to secure a second term even if he manages to win the rest of the undeclared states.

"Congratulations @JoeBiden on your spectacular victory! As the VP, your contribution to strengthening Indo-US relations was critical and invaluable. I look forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights," Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on his Twitter handle, hailing Biden, who is a former two-term vice-president and a Senate veteran.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Indian origin Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris, praising her victory as "pathbreaking" and hoped that the vibrant Ino-US relations will be strengthened further with her support and leadership.

He wrote: Heartiest congratulations @KamalaHarris ! Your success is pathbreaking, and a matter of immense pride not just for your chittis, but also for all Indian-Americans. I am confident that the vibrant India-US ties will get even stronger with your support and leadership."
