New era of progress and prosperity starts in Tripura, PM says

Agartala, Mar 9 (IBNS) :  Hailing the swearing-in of a BJP Government in Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said this marked the start of a new era in the northeastern state and the new dispensation will work for all sections of people.

"Tripura is celebrating Diwali today," the PM tweeted. "The swearing-in ceremony of Biplab and others marks the start of a new era of progress and prosperity. Glad to have joined the ceremony in Agartala today. My best eishes to the team," he said.

In another tweet Modi said : "The @BJP4Tripura- IPFT Government is a Government for each and every citizen of Tripura. I am confident this new team under the youthful and dynamic @BjpBiplab will fulfil the aspirations of the state’s youth."

Earlier in the day, Biplab Kumar Deb  was sworn-in as  Tripura Chief Minister to head the new BJP government in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Deb became the first BJP CM in the state.

A former gym instructor, BJP state president Biplab Dev was born in  Akraban, Udaipur in Gomoti District of Tripura. He was a volunteer with the RSS earlier. 

Deb succeeded Manik Sarkar as the CM of the state.

The BJP has uprooted the 25-year long Left rule in Tripura.

The BJP-IPFT alliance swept the poll with 43 seats as opposed to Left's 16 with one seat yet to be polled.
