Jammu and Kashmir: Dwivedi reviews progress on relief, business revival package

Srinagar: Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi,Friday reviewed progress on relief and revival package for revival of business sector ofJammu and Kashmir announced by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, on the basis ofreport of Committee constituted for the same.

Dwivedi dealt with all the points of action pertaining to the Industries and CommerceDepartment comprising Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Handicrafts andHandloom Department, Geology & Mining Department, J&K SIDCO, J&K SICOP andJKTPO. He underscored the need for creating awareness among the industrial fraternityregarding the benefits announced by the government under the said Package.

Dwivedi highlighted major benefits of the package like 5 percent interest subvention,waiver of 50% of the demand charges and waiver of 50 percent charges on account ofwater charges by the Industrial units.

He exhorted upon all the concerned departmentsto make all efforts for effective implementation of the Package to support the industry atthis crucial juncture.

He asked the officers to enable ease of doing business to the fullest besides ensuring thatthe steps taken up by the department in this behalf should not remain only on papers butthere must be tangible results on ground.

He informed that the department has decidedto hold awareness camps cum workshops in all the districts for creating awareness about GeM Portal with provision of on spot application for the same.

He also touched on the mechanism for disbursal of soft loan in respect of potentiallyviable sick units which shall henceforth be dealt with by J&K Bank instead of J&K SIDCO.He impressed upon the Committee constituted for suggesting diagnostic study regardingsolving problems related to Industries to submit its report well within the prescribedtimeframe.Dwivedi asked to explore more options of virtual fairs and webinars for enhancing thereach of products manufactured in J&K, whether it is Handicrafts,

Handlooms or eventhe products of industrial units.Anoo Malhotra, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Vikas Sharma DirectorGeology & Mining Department, Ankita Kar, MD JKTPO, Vikram Gupta MD JKML,Trishala Kumari, Joint Director, Industries & Commerce and Kewal Krishan AdditionalSecretary Industries & Commerce besides other officers from the allied departmentsattended the meeting.
