The opposition Congress-led UDF in the state has alleged that the accident was an attempt to sabotage the probe into the gold smuggling case.

Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and other Congressmen met the Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to demand an independent probe into the incident.

He and other Congress leaders protested outside the secretariat. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also protested.

According to reports, no important files were destroyed in the fire.
