Burnt body of girl found in UP, gang-rape alleged

Bhadohi/UNI: A burnt body of a girl who had gone missing on August 17 here in the was found in Jaunpur, SP Bhadohi Ram Badan Singh said here on Thursday.

The girl's family has identified the body which is in a very bad condition, he said.

Though reports state that the body was burnt with acid before being thrown in the river after gang-rape, police said that the post-mortem report says it was a case of drowning and there was no confirmation of rape.

According to reports, the girl of Tulsi Chak village under Kotwali police station area who took her cows for grazing, was gang-raped and murdered.

To conceal the identity, the criminals burnt the body with acid and threw it in the Varuna river.

After the recovery of the body from the river in Jaunpur district on Wednesday, the irate villagers blocked the Bhadoi-Jaunpur highway.

The SP said four police teams have been set up to trace out the culprits.

The authorities have also ordered second post-mortem of the body by a five-doctors team.
