| @indiablooms | Apr 01, 2018, at 08:10 pm

Patna, Apr 1 (IBNS): The Bihar police on Saturday arrested Union Minister Ashwini Choubey's son in connection with the communal clashes in Bhagalpur town in the state two weeks ago.

The arrested BJP leader, Arijit Shashwat, has been accused of leading a Ram Navami procession without permission in Bhagalpur on March 17 and also for using provocative slogans during the same.

It has been alleged that the provocative comments during the procession stirred the communcal clashes.

Arijit Shashwat had earlier filed a petition in court seeking protection from arrest.

But the same was rejected by the court in Bhagalpur on Saturday.

Shashwat was taken into custody by the police shortly after Saturday midnight.
