Babri Masjid demolition verdict to be delivered today

| @indiablooms | Sep 30, 2020, at 03:09 pm

New Delhi: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is all set to give its verdict in the Babri Masjid demolition case on Wednesday.

The verdict will be given by the court almost three decades after the structure was razed by a mob in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya town.

The incident had triggered communal tensions.

SK Yadav, a special CBI judge, will pronounce the verdict of the case.

A total of 32 accused had earlier recorded their statements including former Deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani, former union minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, before the special judge, mostly through video conferencing.

All the accused have claimed that they were innocent and they were politically implicated in the conspiracy.

The key accused are not likely to be present in the court on Wednesday.

Adavani, who had recorded his statement on Jul 24 through video conferencing from New Delhi, had denied all charges of the CBI made against him on the conspiracy to demolish the Babri mosque structure.

The BJP leader alleged that all the charges were made due to political reasons.

On Jul 23, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi had appeared through video conferencing from Delhi to record his statement and he too said that he was innocent.

He had said he was not present there at the time of the demolition and he was politically implicated in the case.
